Hey, Mr. Nothing

Push And Pull
by Nikka Costa

Mr. Nothing's got a lot
He's got a lot to say
He's good at being what he's not
Gives nothing away

Another day goes on by
And he never speaks his heart
He takes his chance with what he's got
It's too late now to stop

You push and you pull and struggle with the knot
It's tying you up while you're fadin'
You give and you take and take what you got
Round and round 'till it breaks and
You push and you pull and struggle with the knot
It's tying you up while you're fadin' into your lie

Mr. Nothing is late
He's running out of time
He questions whether chance or fate will ever show a sign
Looks to the sky above
For a glimpse of what it means
And never never never make
Make no sense to him

You push and you pull and struggle with the knot
It's tying you up while you're fadin'
You give and you take and take what you got
Round and round 'till it breaks and
You push and you pull and struggle with the knot
It's tying you up while you're fadin' into your lie

You push and you pull it

Mix Tape: Anything, Anything

Title: Anything Anything
Artist: Dramarama
Album: Cinema Verite (1985)
Dedication: n/a

Okay, what is it tonight?
Please, just tell me what the hell is wrong
Do you wanna eat?
Do you wanna sleep?
Do you wanna drown?
Just settle down, settle down, settle down!

I'll give you candy, give you diamonds, give you pills
give you anything you want--
hundred dollar bills
I'll even let you watch the shows you wanna see
just marry me marry me marry me!

I'm so sick of you tonight
You never stay awake when I get home
Is something wrong with me?
something wrong with you?
I really wish I knew wish I knew wish I knew!

When I was young, I learned a game
When love and happiness were the same
Now I'm older and I don't play--
I found out the hardest way.
I got wasted she got mad
Called me names and she called her dad
He got crazy and I did too
Wonderin' what I did to you

I'll give you candy, give you diamonds, give you pills
Give you anything you want --
hundred dollar bills
I even let you hear the songs I want to sing,
I'll give you anything, anything, anything...

Chocolate Hills Of Bohol

1,268 perfect hills, 500 more with tree trunks in surrounding areas, nominated for a spot in the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, 214 steps up to the viewing deck, and 3 very compelling legends. That's at least 1,992 reasons why you should come down to Carmen City in Bohol to witness nature at its best -- the Chocolate Hills.

Black Saturday: Working Holiday

I thought I could be away from the computer during this trip, but it turns out I have to work anyway. So, I guess you guys aren't going to miss me after all.

After an hour delay, we got to the airport in Tagbilaran City at 8:30AM. I haven't slept and I still have to do some work before I crash. High tide is at noon, so I have a few hours to get a little work done before I take a dip. Stupid me, I forgot to bring the jack for my cellphone so I can't upload any pictures from it just yet. But here's a little preview of the majesty that is Bohol (sea side, at least).

Good Friday

It's the Holy Week and the city is on stealth mode for the next couple of days or so. To celebrate the Easter weekend, I am flying out to Bohol first thing tomorrow morning and won't be back until Tuesday; gonna take it easy before normalcy kicks in again. In the meantime, here's a little treat brought to us by the talented inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. I wish everyone a solemn, spiritually enriching week. I'll be seein' you all in a few...

InFOURmation Overload: Reloaded

First off, I just want to thank those of you who sent me emails and links to your posts about your fours. You guys have no idea how touched and grateful I am for your effort and willingness to share. Some of you were even complete strangers before I read your lists. So again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you -- for opening up and allowing me to know you all just a little bit more.

A bunch of you also spruced up the list a little, which I thought was awesome. James (my most avid reader, or so he claims lol), Katrina T. of Paranaque (who I've never met, but went ahead and introduced herself to me anyway), Carol Ann (who's a first-time expecting mom...I am so THRILLED for you), Wanwan (who just did her own list after we got back from our road trip over the weekend -- you are, indeed, my ambassador of kWAN), and to everyone else who participated, big hugs to you all.

After reading your lists, I thought I'd add a few more bits of info on mine. At first, I did it knowing that no one would really take any real interest in the randomness of my existence. I am so glad that you guys proved me wrong. So here are my fours: reloaded.

Four movies that I could intensely relate to
1. Elizabethtown (Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst)
2. If Only (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Paul Nicholls, Tom Wilkinson)
3. Lost In Translation (Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray)
4. P.S. I Love You (Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler, Lisa Kudrow)

Four books that changed me forever
1. She's Come Undone (Wally Lamb)
2. The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho)
3. **A Blessing In Disguise: 39 Life Lessons From Today's Greatest Teachers (Andrea Joy Cohen)
4. **The Joy Of Doing Things Badly: A Girl's Guide To Love, Life, And Foolish Bravery (Veronica Chambers)
Note: Those in ** are for perpetual reading.

Four best feelings in the world
1. basking in real love
2. being safe
3. being trusted, acknowledged, accepted
4. finishing something and being great at it

Four things I wish I was holding right now
1. my father's hand
2. a 28-inch waist (supposedly mine)
3. the winning lottery ticket
4. the universal cure for cancer, aids, and other dehabilitating diseases

Four things I love
1. music
2. atmosphere
3. movies
4. food

Four people I wish to meet
1. Curt Blasko
2. Ethan Hawke
3. The Doctor
4. my future kid/s

Four things I wish to do before I die
1. travel
2. write more songs
3. affect & inspire people
4. make peace with everyone

Four people who really make me laugh

1. Wanwan
2. The Segovias (this was a tough call, so I went for the collective)
3. The Sorianos (my family's pretty funny, I gotta say)
4. Daniel

Four people who inspire me the most
1. Obie
2. my mom
3. people who've overcome sickness and adversities
4. people who have less than I do, but still feel happy to be alive

This has really been very therapeutic. To reiterate what I said on Wanwan's blog, it's an eye opener to friends and family members who think they know you completely, but hardly do; it's also a way of getting reacquainted with yourself. Everyone should try and do this; even just writing them on a piece of paper. Just be deliciously aware of your answers and let the good times roll.

On Ghosts, Tardiness, And Chatty Truth Monsters

I was out of town the last 4 days, so I wasn't able to post anything on here. But I'm back now, from a super long weekend of relaxation, recreation, and intoxication (check, check, and double check). I had a little trouble sleeping the first night, but it paid off as I watched the sunrise between my toes while I was still in bed (see the picture?). Obviously, I was bored and restless for a good few hours before the sun actually came out.

Here's this week's Unconscious Mutterings brought to you by the letters R & R.

LunaNina says ... and I think ... ?

  1. Paranormal :: I ain't afraid of no ghosts. OK, that's a lie. But I don't think I've ever actually seen one. Thank God.
  2. Alarm :: I don't have a conventional alarm. I don't rely on the radio or TV for it either. I've used my cellphone alarm since it came in existence. Sometimes, I'd even wake up just right before the alarm goes off. It's a sickness/talent -- whichever way you see it. Just like Pizza Hut delivery, I hate late.
  3. Operative :: Hmm. Well, my mom had an eye operatION on Friday.
  4. Changing :: The world is. Ever changing.
  5. Framed :: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It's been a while since I last saw that movie.
  6. Beer :: The last time I had beer I turned into a chatty truth monster.
  7. Referral :: Something I'll need for job-hunting.
  8. Unmasked :: Superheroes without their disguises on. People who come out with the truth.
  9. Movie star :: Hottest one now who I think would make the best leading man in a movie starring me??? Chris Evans and Channing Tatum -- this one's a toss up. (my friend says she's got dibs on Channing. Too bad this ain't her unconscious mutterings lol)
  10. Handbook :: Maryknoll/Miriam College Handbook. I always bought one at the beginning of every school year since the first grade up until senior year in college. But I've never really read them. Ever.

10 On Tuesday: Favorite Drinks

OK, in no particular order (only because I can't really favor caffeine over alcohol and vice versa), my ten favorite drinks are:

1. Diet Coke. Over here it's called Coke Light. Even with the new Coke Zero out in the market now, I still prefer Coke Light. I guess I was never really after which drink had the less calories or the least amount of sugar. Although I should be concerned, since diabetes kind of runs in the family. But I'm all for the tasty and the bubbly, baby. Regular coke's too sweet; Coke Light is just right.

2. Iced Chocolate with a shot of Valencia from Starbucks.

3. **This one's a tie between strawberry banana shakes (both commercial and homemade) and** Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino, also from Starbucks.

4. Bailey's on the rocks with at least 2 cherries. Gotta have them cherries.

5. Ultimate Mocha Ice Blended from The Coffee Bean.

6. Beer. From local varieties of San Miguel to imported ones like Singha, Bud, and Corona.

7. Snapple Pink Lemonade. I used to be so addicted to this stuff.

8. Every single thing on the Boone's Farm family of wines. I especially like the strawberry variations. It's cheap and it tastes mighty fine. I guess I was never pegged as a champagne/fancy wine kind of girl.

9. The Big Gulp -- 32 ounces of tangy bliss.

10. Jack and Coke Light. Ahh, Jack, old buddy, old pal.

TMI Tuesday: The Long And The Short Of Things

1. Under what conditions would you kiss a stranger? I'd like to say NEVER IN A BILLION YEARS. But I think I just might if A) my life or someone else's was actually in danger and me kissing a stranger was the only way to stop it, and B) if I was blindfolded playing some harmless game with friends and someone decides to pounce on me -- sure, why not.

2. Who was the last person you sent a text message to? My friend Mikey. Just now actually. We were talking about RockBand and our first ever practice session.

3. When was the last time you deliberately surprised someone? Honestly, I don't remember any big surprises I cooked up for anyone lately. Small ones, sure, like surprise phone calls, surprise visits, a surprise in the mail -- that kinda stuff.

4. How often do you walk somewhere (hopefully, other than the mailbox)? Lately? Not a lot. Other than walking around the supermarket or the mall, I haven't done a lot of walking, no. I've been meaning to though. 10,000 steps a day, was it? Yeah, my pedometer has been on stealth mode for too long. All that's going to change, that's for sure.

5. What were the longest and shortest durations of your romantic relationships? Shortest was a nanosecond. Longest is 3 years (consecutively).

Bonus: What is missing from your life? A fat bank account, an extremely rewarding and fulfilling job, U.S. and Canadian visas, my dad.

If You Were A Kiss, I Know I'd Be A Hug

All I Want Is You
by Barry Louis Polisar

If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if I was a tree growing tall and greeen
All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves.
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side.
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, I know I'd be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, let the cold winds blow.
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were a wink, I'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well I'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug.
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

If you were the wood, I'd be the fire.
If you were the love, I'd be the desire.
If you were a castle, I'd be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, I'd learn to float.
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
