Another Piece Of Haven
First, there was Mulder and Scully. Then, the Doctor and Rose. And just recently, I was introduced to the troubled world of Nathan and Audrey.
What is with me and these dysfunctional, sci-fi riddled, tragically written love affairs?!

Tricycle Chronicles - A Whole New World
Never did I think I would end up where I am now. The "new normal," as my husband calls it. Is it a good change? Of course, it is. Just needs a little getting used to. Scratch that. A LOT of getting used to.
We finally moved out of the old house and into a new albeit smaller one. It's not so much a house. It's a condo unit actually. So small you could hear someone sneeze from the other room. There are 3 bedrooms. We call the supposed maids quarters "Narnia" because it might as well be the same size as the wardrobe in the story - minus the vast, snow-covered magical land beyond the fur coats. Luna's room is called "Hogwarts" because baby brother is back from the States for a short while, so he's set up camp there, and we all know how mad about Harry Potter he is. The master's bedroom is called "The Shire" because, well, hobbits live in it. lol
I am grateful we've been blessed with a home, work, and our baby. I consider myself a pretty fast learner, so this crazy phase I'm in, whatever this is, will be over before anyone can say "happily ever after."
Happily ever after.
Crap.

Who Knew Online Shopping For Baby Could Be So Addictive?
Going through bestseller lists on Amazon Baby and Babies R Us has been very entertaining to say the least. It's actually become a ritual of some sorts. Before going to bed at night, I play hubby's lullaby that I recorded on my phone, I take a peek at the items that caught my eye the night before, and I go back and forth if I should get it or not. Sure, I've bought a few things here and there, but adding to the shopping cart or even saving them for a much later purchase is just quite thrilling.
No one has really seen my Amazon baby registry yet, except for my husband, who doesn't really remember much except these tiny, adorable soccer shoes and a novelty diaper bag he wouldn't be ashamed to carry, and my mom, who promised to buy like half of the stuff on there. If people ask, then I give them the link to the registry. If no one asks, that's fine, too. I just like looking at baby stuff anyway. They're too cute!!!

My Top 5: Things I Do When Having The Worst Day
What do you do when you're having the worst kind of day?
I'm not talking about a flat tire or a ruined party dress. Those seem like vacations compared to what I think constitutes a really bad day. Just imagine the worst possible scenario. THERE - the worst kind of day!

Saturday 9: Changes
This week's Saturday 9 was supposed to be all about the summer. However, since I live where I live, summertime is just about over. Actually, the rainy season just started over here (we're on tropical storm #2 for the year). So, I decided to talk about last week's Saturday 9 instead. And here it goes...
1. Do you believe people can truly change? I do. They'd have to really want to, of course.
2. Do you think there is anything wrong with being average? There's nothing wrong with being average. Contentment is relative. If you're happy where you are, no matter how quiet or extravagant your life is, then that's where you should be.
3. Do you believe in fairy tale love? Even when I thought I wasn't going to get married and have my happily ever after, I believed in it, yes.
4. Has anyone ever spread something malicious about you? Oh, yeah.
5. Have you ever done something at a party that you've ever regretted? Oh. Yeah. lol
6. How do you go about setting your goals? I used to make mental notes, that's it. But lately, I find it more attainable if I write things down, plan a course of attack, and follow through each one.
7. Do you believe you deserve everything you want? Sometimes, I do. The unreasonable part of me feels I deserve more, but realistically, I know I need to do/be more to merit anything more than I get.
8. Do you have people in your life you could always count on? Thank God, I do.
9. Did you ever make a close friend from someone that you've dated? Hmmm not close, but yeah, I've remained friends with them.

Often I Search...
1. It's always nice when I wake up in the morning and I don't have to be anywhere!
2. I like to hear food sizzling - makes me hungrier.
3. Positive attracts positive; negative attracts negative.
4. "This is your life, are you who you want to be?" ~ Switchfoot
5. What I heard was not necessarily the truth.
6. Often, I search my name on Google just because.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to having dinner and drinks (non-alcoholic for me) with the girls, tomorrow my plans include driving south to watch hubby play football and Sunday, I want to prepare a nice home-cooked meal for hubby and the in-laws for Father's Day!
Happy Friday!

Rock Of Ages - It Just Plain Old Rocked
No one could've played Stacee Jaxx better than Tom Cruise, I think. I mean, after seeing what he did, it's hard to imagine anyone else in that role. He fit the bill perfectly.
I could go on and on about how great it all was. The bottom line is...I want the soundtrack, I want the DVD when it comes out, and I want my life to be a Rock of Ages musical.
Rock on! \m/(>.<)\m/

Wish I Was Fearless Like Chuck Norris
Those who truly know me would agree with me when I say I am not the bravest person in the world. Sure, I've taken on Goliath (the roller coaster, not the actual giant Philistine warrior, come on) and performed numerous times in front of crowds of all sizes, but generally, I feel that I really lack in the confidence/fearlessness department. That's why I approach almost everything with supreme caution and, sometimes, needless panic.
While going over pregnancy books, I read that people with low self esteem and confidence levels may have been deprived of time and affection by their parents. Hmm. Looking back, that could've been true in my case. I mean, I was never close to my mother, not until I was all grown up. The fact that I wasn't breastfed reinforces this theory. So yeah, maybe that's one of the main reasons why I cringe at the thought of the uncomfortable and unfamiliar, why I grab at every psychological crutch I can get my hands on so I don't fall flat on my face or, worse, don't go through it at all.
So what does give me strength, courage, hope, and all those positively positive things? Aside from verbal encouragement, which usually works for many, I guess even more fear pushes me down those winding, uncertain roads. Fear that if I don't do it, things will just get worse than they could be or already are. Twisted, isn't it.
I could not think of any particular traumatic moment in my youth that attributed to my pantophobia (the fear of everything). Perhaps it was because my mother pushed me on to every stage even when I didn't feel like it. Or maybe we're all predisposed to fear from the second we are conceived. Who knows. I sure as hell don't. But whatever the reason is, I have to give myself a little credit. I mean, considering the levels of fear I've had to face all throughout my life, I'm still here, aren't I? Still standing, breathing, and acquainting myself with brand new fears I never knew existed.
What about you? What do you fear most and how do you overcome it?
"I have accepted fear as a part of life, specifically the fear of change, the fear of the unknown. I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: Turn back, turn back; you'll die if you venture too far." ~ Erica Jong
